Our Story / Who We Are

Women on Environment Mission (WEM) is a female led non-for-profit organization dedicated to women empowerment in environment conservation, gender equality and women rights. WEM was founded by ambitious women who saw a need to bring women together to begin discussions on climate change, women rights and land rights.

WEM is envisioned to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). We believe that to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (SDG 5) is critical in addressing Poverty (SDG 1), hunger (SDG 2), for attaining food security (SDG 2), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7) and addressing climate change (SDG 13).

Mission

To advance women’s empowerment and end the climate crisis, poverty and food insecurity.

Vision

A world in which women rights and integrity of the environment is protected.

Our Goals

Educate and empower women to address and develop strategies for the protection of our environment
Recognize, support, and promote environmentally lifestyles, economic livelihoods, and to build healthy sustaining Indigenous communities
Commitment to influence energy policies that affect women on a local, regional, national and international level
Environmental policies, plans and practices are gender-responsive and implemented effectively at all levels of engagements
